I am a queer/ethical vegan/visual artist/social worker, who lives with his partner in Long Island, New York. Many of my works are executed on paper with found objects and mixed media. These items are gathered from the streets, subways, and other places, both public and private and reflect my wanderings. I combine these found objects with newspaper clippings, various antique texts, and my own drawings to make visual statements that illustrate the reality of living in a society that is hostile to anyone who is considered to be outside of "normal". In my work I also explore the gulf between art and craft and attempt to challenge societal assumptions of what people are expected to produce to relation to their gender identity.
I hold a Bachelors of Fine Art from Kansas State University. I have also recently completed working on a Master's Degree in social work at Hunter College in New York City. I can be emailed at chrisqop@gmail.com Exhibitions
